FoodSussed: Food Check & Coach
by No Nonsense Fitness
FoodSussed: Built for Ireland
The big shop already has enough small print.
Stop guessing, start understanding.
FoodSussed is a calorie tracker and food ingredient scanner by No Nonsense Fitness, built for Ireland with Irish supermarket foods. Scan a barcode or search to log calories and macros. Photograph an ingredients list with FoodSussed Snap for an estimated processing level and its reasons. FoodSussed Coach reviews each completed week. It may suggest a calorie change after about three weeks of records. You accept or skip.
- Snap the ingredients list in the shop.
- See Level 1–4 and why.
- Track your food and review your week.
Estimated from the ingredients read. Processing level, not a health score.
Planned: €9.99/month or €79.95/year (UK £8.99/month or £69.99/year).
7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Coming soon to Google Play.

See how FoodSussed explains your food
Photograph the ingredients and see an estimated FoodSussed processing level, with an explanation based on the ingredients read.
- A granola on an Irish supermarket shelf says “High protein” on the front.
- Open FoodSussed Snap and photograph the ingredients list.
- The app estimates the level: Level 4, ultra-processed, for this product.
- “Why this level?” highlights the ingredients behind it: soya protein isolate, an emulsifier (sunflower lecithins), glucose syrup and flavouring.
The level describes how processed a food is, estimated from the ingredients read. It is not a health or safety score. The video has music only, no speech. See eight protein products compared, and how the level is worked out.
The front of the pack is marketing.
The back gives the detail the front leaves out. Check the serving basis too; our scanner shows the available label data.
Food Check lets you look at the foods behind your day's numbers. See which are minimally processed, processed or ultra-processed, and how much of your logged intake comes from each group.
The breakdown uses logged calories, not a count of foods. A spoon of sauce and your whole dinner do not count as equal shares.
Plain whole foods can be recognised automatically. When a packaged food needs more information, take a photo of its complete ingredients list or upload a saved image or screenshot. Check the extracted text before saving.
Food Check is optional. Turn it on or off in About Me. Processing level is one part of the picture, not a health score. Where evidence is missing, the app says so.
Built-in nutrition coaching,
reviewed weekly.
FoodSussed Coach is an automated app feature, not personal coaching from Keith. It starts with your goal: fat loss, muscle, building muscle while losing fat, maintenance, or eating better without a weight goal. Coach reviews each completed week. Once there are about three weeks of complete days and weigh-ins, it may suggest a capped calorie change. You accept or skip. The earliest is 17 to 23 days, depending on the day you start. Then one focus for the week, in plain English.
- Numbers first.
- Average calories, protein and your weight trend, each with the number of confirmed days and weigh-ins behind it.
- A target that adapts.
- About three weeks of complete days, with three weigh-ins in each week. Changes are capped at 300 kcal at a time. The floor is 1,200 kcal for women and 1,500 kcal for everyone else.
- You stay in charge.
- Coach proposes; you accept or skip. Nothing changes without your tap, and every proposal shows the intake and weight trend behind it.
Everything is calculated on your device from your own records. For adults with no medical condition affecting food; it is not medical care.
Calorie and macro tracking for Irish and UK foods.
Log breakfast, repeat a usual lunch and get on with your day. The food diary keeps calories and macros together, with Irish and UK food search, unlimited barcode scanning and saved meals.
Actual app screens with example data. Barcode and nutrition coverage vary by product; check the pack when a result is missing or looks wrong.
Keep a record of progress.
Log your weight, follow recorded changes and keep progress photos on your device. A scale reading does not tell you how much fat or muscle has changed.
Look beyond the macro totals.
See fibre and other nutrient details where the food data includes them. Unavailable values are shown as missing, not zero.
See your week in one place.
Your weekly review brings together your logged calories, processing levels and recorded weight trend. Coach gives you one focus for the week, based on your own records.

The Android app is coming soon to Google Play. This page will link to the public listing when it is available. No iOS download is available here yet.

What will the app cost?
The planned Google Play subscription is €9.99 a month or €79.95 a year (£8.99 a month or £69.99 a year in the UK), with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. It renews unless cancelled. The calculators and guides are separate and free.
What does a processing level tell me?
FoodSussed Snap estimates a Level 1 to 4 from the ingredients you confirm and explains the reasons. FoodSussed uses its own NOVA-informed method, not an official NOVA classification. The level describes processing; it is not a health or safety score or a judgement that food is good or bad. See the method and worked examples. Read the UK protein-product study and its limits.
Where does the food information come from?
FoodSussed combines open food information from Open Food Facts with licensed retailer data from BasketWatch Ireland. A database match is a starting point: check the product, portion and current pack before logging. Products and recipes change, and a match may have missing information. See public food data sources and credits.
Snap can read an ingredients list for you to confirm before estimating its processing level. Nutrition-label scanning and manual entry help when food information is missing. The worked label examples show why a protein claim does not tell you the processing level, and the real Snap demo shows the check.
Why use the Android app each week?
Once the Android app is available, its subscription will let you keep your food diary, reuse saved meals and review your logged week. The weekly review brings together your records. Coach may suggest a calorie change after enough weeks, and nothing changes unless you accept it.
